Likely the most versatile of the power saws the circ saw offers up a huge range of applications from rip and cross cutting to cutting slats for fences and decks. Most circular saws are specifically designed to cut wood but most can also be used with specialty blades to cut metal plastic and other such materials. Circ saws also tend to be incredibly lightweight versatile portable and comfortable to use. Of course there are certain specialty saws that may do it a little better than a standard circular saw but none that do it all so conveniently. Its portability versatility and compact size make the circular saw a wonder tool for virtually everyone. However although the circ saw is a vital tool to have on hand not all circ saws are created equally; there are four to be exact that seem to raise the bar in circular saw standards.
It allows a user to keep the line of cut clear by blowing sawdust out of the way during cutting. The blower can also be used when not actually making cuts by simply squeezing the trigger and holding the saw toward an area covered in saw dust. Believe it or not there is even more variety among circular saws than what Ive already presented above. For example; there are small corded saws that use smaller blades such as the Rockwell compact circular saw with a 4 1/2" blade and the Rockwell VersaCut with a 3 3/8" blade. These saws are good for smaller jobs and cutting sheet goods such as OSB plywood MDF or panels. Their depth of cut isnt anything to brag about but the smaller blades are also thinner meaning less material is wasted during cuts. A circular saw is a powerful portable and versatile tool designed to cut wood with a large spinning blade. While most circular saws are specifically designed to cut wooden materials most can also be used with specialty blades made to cut metals plastics and other industrial materials.

If you are buying a corded model I would go with a 7 1/4" and for cordless go with a 6 1/2". The larger blade models are heavier but in the long run you will have to make less cuts especially on angle cuts. Shaft Locks - Make sure your saw has a lock. A Shaft lock is usually a button you press that holds the blade still making changing the blade easier. If your buying a professional power circular saw it should have this feature. The cheaper models usually do not have this feature. Circular Saw Blades A saw blade is one of the most important parts to a circular saw.
