A worm-drive saw runs at lower RPMs than sidewinder circular saws. This produces more torque at the cutting surface and reduces the likelihood of the saw bogging down. A worm-drive is the choice when cutting thick pieces of lumber 2x4s and 2x6s or wet material. Worm-drive saws are slightly heavier than sidewinder saws 12 to 15 pounds but after a little use you get used to the weight and learn to appreciate the more solid feel of a worm-drive saw. Plunge type saws have metal guide rails that make them useful for trimming. The saw makes its cut very close to the rail without actually touching it. A lot of plunge saws are constructed to hold the material being cut eliminating the need for clamps. However if youre like me I still prefer to use clamps; it just gives me a more firm and solid feeling when making the cut especially when I need at least a reasonable level of accuracy. Plunge-type circular saws are specially designed to make a cut in the middle of large sheets of wood. The most popular circular saw for general use is the 7 inch saw. It doesnt cost much: ranging from $80 up to around $200. Its also relatively light usually 10 to 12 pounds. Some models are just basic with few features while others can have dual-beam laser guide lines. These saws typically come with sidewinder type motors. They operate at higher RPMs compared to worm-drive saws and produce less torque. While some circular saw manufacturers offer frills such as canvas carrying bags or LED lights there are several features that you absolutely need if youre going to enjoy using your saw. Im not saying that canvas bags and LED lights arent nice features to have but there are others that are more important.

Combination blades have a variety of tooth which counts from 24 to 80-teeth and are commonly used by woodworkers. Choose a plywood blade if you only want to cut wood. This blade is made from high speed steel and sure to have a good finish. Other specific for a certain type of wood cutting are the dado blades. These blades are used on a radial arm saw or a table saw. You can always search online for the best circular saw reviews to help you and guide you on how to choose the best blades for your circular saw. Basing on some circular saw reviews it is quite difficult to choose the best circular saw for your needs. As it is simply the most widely used kind of saw in carpentry especially in making cabinets it is important that you choose accordingly in order to make the most out of its purposes. Circular saw reviews serves as a guide as to what you should look for in a circular saw. To start the ball rolling here are a few tips when shopping for one: 1. Identify what kind you want. The oil plug is the metal nut that sits just above the oil reservoir (the reservoir should be clearly indicated with images or text). To remove the plug use the wrench that came with the tool (the same one you use to remove the saw blade) and twist the plug off. Tip the saw upside-down allowing as much oil as possible to drain from the reservoir. After draining the sludgy oil refill the oil reservoir with kerosene. Replace the oil plug and allow the tool to run for another minute. This pushes the kerosene throughout and entirely flushes the gear housing clearing it and the reservoir of any residual oil build-up. Invert the tool once more to drain the kerosene entirely from the reservoir. Next and last you simply need to refill the reservoir with a brand specific lubricant. For example if you use a Skil saw you need to refill the reservoir with Skil oil. It is important that you use only these specific lubricants as other oils are not designed with the same particularities. Rest the tool on its foot atop a vertical surface (like a work bench or table) and fill the oil reservoir until oil spills slightly from the lowest point on the oil hole (the part closest to the oil reservoir) and replace the oil plug. Remember to check the oil in your worm-drive circular saw before each use top-it off when it needs it flush the oil when it gets nasty and and you and that circ saw should be well on your way for a long life of successful productivity.
